Head of Department, Private Client JOTM081

Woking, UK
Expiry date:
Reference no:

If you are an existing Head of Department or notable Senior Associate, with ambition and energy to meet the challenge of picking up the reigns to drive this fast developing department forward, this could be the right role for you.

The role will be to lead a team of two fee earners and one trainee solicitor, who is due to qualify in January 2018, with one fee earner retiring in December 2017. The department is assisted by two paralegals and one secretary and has grown significantly over the last 18 months.

As Head of Department you will be responsible for managing budgets both for the team as a whole and for each individual fee earner, and will have lots of autonomy to make the role your own. You will be expected to be proactive in devising marketing initiatives to promote the department and firm, and explore new avenues for bringing in new business, whilst keeping both existing clients and members of the team up to date on changes in legislation and practice. General supervision of the trainee solicitor will be required to ensure a smooth transition upon qualification, together with assisting a junior fee earner currently studying towards becoming a STEP member.

The workload will be varied and include administration of estates, simple and complex will drafting, creation and administration of trusts and advising on tax matters, estate planning, LPAs and Court of Protection applications.

Full STEP member is required and SFE would be ideal, together with 5+ years PQE in Private Client.

The ideal candidate will be focussed on the bigger picture and should relish the opportunity to further develop an already busy and successful department, which is going from strength to strength.
