The week of the Mid Autumn Festival was a busy week for STEP
(HK). On Thursday 15 September the annual cocktail party was
held at the American Club.
STEP HK branch is delighted to annouce the winner of the STEP
Hong Kong scholarship for the STEP foundation certificate (Diploma
3 course in Phase II), Ms Irenie Pang.
24 August 2010 - STEP Hong Kong's response to the consultation
paper on the Enduring Powers of Attorney (Amendment) Bill 2011.
STEP Hong Kong has submitted comments to FSTB
on (A) Restriction of corporate directorship in private
companies; (B) indemnities for directors; and (C)
non-Hong Kong companies.
Financial Services and Treasury Bureau have
issued the consultation conclusions for the first phase of the
draft Companies Bill. They are now available at
http://www.fstb.gov.hk/fsb/co_rewrite/eng/pub-press/consult-conclusion.htm.
On 22nd February the FSTB published their conclusions following
the review of the Trustee Ordinance. They are attached
here. Other papers can be downloaded from the FSTB
website at www.fstb.gov.hk/fsb/topical/index.htm.
The FSTB have called for comments on legislative proposals to
enhance the anti-money laundering regime.

Kong tax regulatory update Nov 2010 issue 2
STEP has prepared a very useful policy report on helping
families secure their future. It deals with topics such as
protecting the vulnerable, modernising our inheritance laws,
building financial security and a better fax system.
STEP Hong Kong has submitted comments on the draft Hong Kong
Inland Revenue (Amendment) (No., 3) Bill 2009 (Final).

The Joint Committee on Trust Law Reform
in Hong Kong has submitted a response to the FSTB's Consultation
Conclusions in relation to the Trustee Ordinance Review.
STEP HK
Ltd has sent a letter to the Commissioner of Inland Revenue
regarding the SAT tax treaty.
The Joint Committee on Trust Law Reform
has prepared a paper for FSTB to update the trust law of Hong Kong.
The paper is attached, which also gives a link to the FSTB
consultation paper.
On Thursday 2nd June some 30 guests
attended the STEP HK student networking and social event hosted by
Withers HK. Ms. Aurora Wong, Chairman of the Marketing and
Communications sub-committee, welcomed everyone on behalf of STEP
and gave a brief introduction to STEP which now has more than 300
members in Hong Kong almost 16,000 members worldwide.
