Our special guest speaker for this event was Victor Joffre QC an
“In Silk” for nearly nine years at Searle Court, London. The
seminar focused on Jersey’s largest ever trusts case the “Alhamrani
litigation”.
Victor acted for the plaintiffs in the litigation which involved
a $120million breach of trust. The principal defence in the
litigation was that the beneficiaries knew of, concurred in, and
acquiesced in the breach of trust. Although the litigation
settled, Victor discussed the issues raised in the matter,
including whether the appointment of a new trustee was affected by
the beneficiaries’ knowledge.
