Cross-Border Estates Global SIG Steering Committee Elections 2017

Vacancies are arising on the Cross-Border Estates Special Interest Group (SIG) Steering Committee and they are now accepting applications to fill these vacancies.

A number of vacancies are arising on the Cross-Border Estates Special Interest Group (SIG) Steering Committee and they are now accepting applications to fill these vacancies;

  • Two vacancies are available to fill with immediate effect and have terms commencing 5 October 2017
  • The further five vacancies will be the result of inaugural Committee Members having reached their full terms of service at close of 2017. Replacements for these posts will commence 1 January 2018

The SIG Committee's wish is for committee representatives, in so far as possible, to reflect the global make-up of its membership and be representative of the cross-border aspect of a practitioner's role. The STEP Worldwide Board also endorses geographic diversity and encourages global applications to give a balanced composition to the Global SIG Steering Committee as per guidance outlined in the Global SIG Terms of Reference. Candidates are therefore encouraged to highlight relevant experience in their personal statement and professional experience.

If you wish to stand for one of the steering committee positions, then please complete the application form below and submit to with the subject line: ‘Cross-Border Estates SIG Steering Committee Application-[INSERT CANDIDATE NAME]' by 11.59pm UK (GMT+1) on Sunday 3 September 2017.

In submitting an application, please ensure that you read the Global SIG Terms of Reference, which set forth the rules and guidance on all matters relating to the running, governance and operation of special interest groups, to include detail on the responsibilities and obligations you would undertake as a Global SIG Steering Committee member and who is eligible to apply.

These elections to the steering committee will take place to the following schedule. The two candidates receiving the highest number of votes will be invited to assume their committee positions from October 2017. The remaining successful candidates will assume their committee positions from January 2018, but will be invited to attend remaining committee meetings in 2017 in an observer capacity, should they so wish. It should be noted that the remaining meetings scheduled for 2017 are taking place on Thursday 5 October 2017 and Wednesday 8 November 2017. Committee meetings usually take place bi-monthly with a total of six held across the year.

Members of the SIG provided with details of candidates running.

Online voting available to SIG members for a period of two weeks.

By 27 September 2017

Successful and unsuccessful applicants will be individually informed.

By 3 October 2017

The election results will be publicly announced.

5 October 2017

New committee members invited to attend first committee meeting.
