60-second interview with Liggy Webb

Liggy Webb , 14/6/2017

Liggy Webb is an author and international consultant specialising in behavioural skills, and is the founding director of The Learning Architect in Cheltenham.

What does your organisation do?

The Learning Architect specialises in behavioural change and our focus is to distil complexity and create practical and sustainable approaches.

Why do you think it’s important for businesses to support their staff in building personal and professional resilience?

Life is changing at a rapid pace and we are living in volatile and uncertain times. Helping people to be proactive in dealing with various challenges is key to avoiding stress burn out and supporting both physical and emotional wellbeing.

What do you think are the key strategies necessary to build resilience?

I believe that personal resilience is underpinned by three core behaviours, which involve taking personal responsibility, embracing change and adopting an agile approach as well as cultivating a positive growth mind-set.

What do you most like about your job?

The knowledge through feedback that what I do makes a contribution to people feeling better about themselves.

.. and what do you feel is most worthwhile?

That people who are exposed to the resilience strategies that I have developed will be able to face life’s challenges with more courage and confidence.

What would you say to a young person starting out on their career?

We were born to be real and not perfect and we are all people in progress. It is empowering to positively embrace mistakes, setbacks and failure, and consider them as stepping stones, not stumbling blocks.

What do you feel are the main challenges facing practitioners at the moment, and how will you deal with them?

Time and allowing ourselves (if we are not careful) to become overwhelmed. I am a big fan of simplicity and aim to reduce complexity at every opportunity.

Which social media channels do you use and why?

Twitter: @liggyw – it's easy to use and there are some great people out there to follow.
