Joining STEP in Australia: 10 Years’ Experience

Two pathways are available for those with 10 years’ experience; the Experienced Practitioner Route which is open to all practitioners, and the Advocacy Route which is open to practising barristers with rights of audience

Experienced Practitioner Route

This pathway leads to full STEP membership and is open to application from those with a recognised vocational degree or professional qualification and a minimum 10 years’ industry experience.
Requirements:

  • 10 years of industry experience with a recognised vocational degree or professional qualification.
  • Four references, including two from current STEP Members.
  • A detailed CV and evidence of a body of work including published articles, books, case studies, lecture notes and/or papers that demonstrate knowledge in the area of trusts and/or estates.

Advocacy Route

This pathway is open to practising barristers or anyone with rights of audience in Australia who can provide relevant opinions of the appropriate standard.

Requirements: Applicants must have at least 10 years’ experience in the field of trusts and/or estates.

Please note: All applicants for any route will also need to complete a Professional Standards Awareness case study within their first year of membership, as part of the CPD requirement.
