Joining STEP via the Advocacy Route
Candidates can join STEP through the advocacy route and become
full STEP members, receiving all the
benefits associated with this.
Who is Eligible?
Any practicing barrister or anyone with rights of audience in
relation to proceedings in the High Court in England & Wales or
equivalent in other legal jurisdictions, who can provide relevant
opinions of the appropriate standard, will be eligible for full
STEP membership. You must have at least 10 years experience in the
field of trusts and/or estates.

How to Apply
The advocacy route to full STEP membership can be obtained by
completing the Advocacy Route Membership Application Form at the
bottom of this page and submitting this with a current resume/CV
and three anonymous opinions demonstrating the applicant's trust
and estate experience. These are assessed by an independent QC.
