    What was your role within the court?

    I was appointed as Master of the Court of Protection in April 1996 and for many years was the only judge in the court. When the Mental Capacity Act 2005 came into force in October 2007, my job title changed from Master to Senior Judge, and I was joined by something like 200 judges who have been given nominations to deal with Court of Protection matters. I retired in July, on my 65th birthday.
