Are you a senior and experienced tax, trust and succession planning specialist looking to move to a rapidly growing national practice?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced tax, trust and succession planning specialists to join Private Client Services at 1825 and to be part of our management team.  This established and rapidly growing team is core to the financial planning offering at 1825, which is part of the Standard Life Aberdeen Group, and also operates as a standalone, independent business unit.

Applying your significant experience and technical expertise to provide high quality specialist tax, trust and succession planning advice, documentation and services to clients, you will be supported by a strong administrative function and will have a more junior adviser assisting with you on every client file.  With autonomy to effectively manage your client bank and to proactively seek, identify and implement business development opportunities (both internal and external) plus being involved in setting and effecting the overall strategic direction of the department, this is an ideal role for someone whose technical expertise is matched by their commerciality.  

Qualifications

We take pride in our technical expertise so any prospective candidate will be required to have either a degree in Law or Accountancy (or similar) or a relevant and recognised professional qualification in the appropriate jurisdiction (such as TEP, CTA, ATT etc) plus, in either case, significant directly relevant experience.  

Key Responsibilities and Essential Experience

The role holder will be responsible for providing specialist tax, trust and succession planning advice and services and, where complexity requires it, drafting documentation and client communications specifically relating to (but not limited to):
o    Wills
o    Powers of Attorney
o    Trust Deeds
o    Inheritance tax, capital gains tax and income tax
o    Tax returns (for individuals and trusts) and other HMRC forms
o    Trust/probate accounting and estate administration (including acting on behalf of the in-house trust corporation)

Significant experience across the majority of these areas, and of acting as a professional trustee, is therefore essential.  

The role holder will also be responsible for robust checking of the work produced by the Private Client Consultants aligned to their clients and managing a case load of clients and files effectively and efficiently.
