Affiliate Membership and APL

Applicants qualify for Affiliate membership when they have 60 credits. Credits are collected from a combination of STEP courses, prior qualifications or relevant work experience. You do not need to complete a STEP qualification to become an Affiliate Member.

Candidates who are not intending to enroll on a STEP qualification can apply for Affiliate membership based on Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL). There are two main sub-categories within the Accreditation of Prior Learning:

1. Accreditation of Prior Certificated Learning (APCL) - Learning which has been formally assessed and certified by an educational institution, e.g. University/University College, recognised education/training provider or professional body; and

2. Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) - The formal recognition of prior learning gained through other experience, in particular learning gained within and through work.
