Welcome to STEP Barbados
It is with pleasure that we welcome you to the STEP Barbados Branch. We are delighted that you are interested in learning more about the Branch, our mission and activities and hope that what we offer will be of value to you. The STEP Barbados Branch was founded in 1999 and has consistently been active and relevant in the context of Barbados’ international financial services sector. We have grown almost 100 members, including 8 student members. Our past Chairpersons have been leaders in Barbados’ private client and family wealth advisory community who were committed to excellence: Penny Ettinger, Darren Stark, Adrian E. Meyer, Liza Harridyal-Sodha, Roland Jones, Keisha Hyde-Porchetta, Amanda Lashley and Tara Frater.
In terms of our objectives, we serve our members by providing continuing professional development events which are intended to assist them with staying abreast of relevant local and international developments, and provide networking opportunities. In addition, we seek to engage in sector relevant discourses and advocate the interests of our members with a view to facilitating a better understanding of the issues which families face in the context of family inheritance and succession planning, as well as nurturing the development of this sector in Barbados. In order to achieve our objectives, we champion issues and collaborate with other stakeholders, where appropriate, with a view to amplifying our collective voices. In this context, we work with the following stakeholders:
- Barbados International Business Association
- Invest Barbados
- Joint Working Policy Group which advises the Ministry of International Business in Barbados
- Barbados Bar Association
- Institute of Chartered Accountants Barbados
- Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators Barbados
Barbados, as a jurisdiction, is being confronted with various legislative and political changes which present choices that will have implications affecting us for years to come. These choices present opportunities for growth, if handled well. We are happy to welcome those who wish to join our ranks, whether as members, sponsors or partners in order to create the changes we wish to see. We remain, as ever, firm craftsmen of our fate.
Please feel free to explore our site and contact us, should you have any queries about the Branch, becoming a member, or any of our activities.
