How can STEP support me in my career?
Membership will help you to showcase your professional expertise, enhance your skills and update your knowledge, network with other professionals and keep up-to-date with industry developments. Learn more about the benefits of membership
Can you give me advice about family inheritance and succession planning?
STEP office staff are not trust and estate professionals and so cannot provide legal advice. For advice, you would need to contact one of our Members. You can search the STEP Directory to find a Member in your local area, city or country or geographic region.
Where can I learn more about STEP qualifications?
You can learn more through the Qualifications page on our website or, by contacting STEP's training providers, Central Law Training International (CLTI), who run all STEP Certificate and Diploma courses, on +44 (0)121 362 7733 or [email protected].
I was a Full STEP Member but allowed my membership to lapse. Can I re-join?
Yes. To rejoin you will need to complete and return the rejoining form along with a current resume/CV. STEP also requires any outstanding payment from the year your membership lapsed, payment for the current year and a rejoining administration fee. Contact the STEP office at [email protected] or +44 (0)20 3752 3700 to discuss your outstanding fee payment.
What is the cost to join, re-join or upgrade my membership?
Annual membership, upgrade, joining and administration fees can be found in fees and subscriptions. Fees may vary by STEP Branch as some include a Branch Levy and/or Administration Fee. Contact the STEP office at [email protected] or +44 (0)20 3752 3700 to discuss your outstanding fee payment.
How do I pay my annual membership fee?
Invoices are loaded onto your membership portal in February each year with payment due on 1 April. Members in most regions can pay online via the portal. Alternatively, members can download their invoice for other payment options. Contact [email protected] for assistance.
I’ve forgotten my login details. Can I get a reminder?
Yes. If you know your username log in to receive a password reminder. If you’ve forgotten your username, e-mail [email protected].
How do I update my contact details and/or mailing preferences?
To update your details, log into the website, amend your details and click ‘Save’. From here you can also update your mailing preferences, username/password, and expertise listing through the applicable tabs.
Why have I stopped receiving correspondence from STEP and/or your publications?
It’s possible you opted out of receiving email or mailings from STEP or that your contact details are out of date. Please verify your details and preferences by logging in to your account. If all appears fine or you cannot log in, your membership may have been terminated or suspended. Contact [email protected] for assistance.
I’ve moved to a new town/city. How can I change my STEP Chapter or Branch affiliation?
You cannot change your chapter/branch affiliation online. Contact [email protected] or +44 (0)20 3752 3700 for assistance.
Who should I speak to regarding my Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirement?
You can review STEP's CPD Policy and access free CPD Resources through the CPD Centre. If you have any further questions about CPD, please email [email protected]
I am a member and want to get involved. Are there opportunities and what are the benefits?
Yes, there are many ways to get involved – either at a local, national or an international level. Volunteering will enable you to improve your skillset, boost your career, have a say in STEP’s future and influence policy.
I’m a Full Member/TEP. How can I get a copy of the STEP logo?
