California in the rearview mirror – Residency termination. 27 July 2021
California – taxes too high and only going higher? Commute too crowded? Infrastructure too antiquated? More than ever, California residents, repelled by the highest income taxes in the country and drawn by the appeal of no-tax states such as Wyoming, Florida and Nevada, are contemplating terminating their CA income tax residency. But that’s no simple feat.
The Franchise Tax Board has CA tax residency issues solidly in their cross-hairs. This timely webinar will review the CA income tax residency rules, particularly as they apply to terminating such residency, and consider some of the issues in moving to Wyoming or another no-tax state. Paul Sczudlo, the Immediate Past Chair of STEP/LA and the Secretary of STEP/USA, is joined in this informative presentation by STEP/USA Vice-Chair Chris Reimer, the consummate Wyoming private client/estates & trusts planning lawyer.
