Alvaro Aznar Azcarate from Buckles Solicitors  

Alvaro joined Buckles in October 2020 as a Senior Associate in our International and Private Client teams, having practised international cross-border private client work for over a decade. Alvaro is a dual-qualified English solicitor (qualifying in 2017) and Spanish abogado and is fluent in English, Spanish and French.
Alvaro advises clients and charities in the planning and administration of complex estates, often involving multiple jurisdictions, particularly in those situations where civil and common law systems collide. Alvaro also advises on a broad range of Spanish private client work and Lasting Powers of Attorney for individuals with assets in various jurisdictions.
Alvaro is the Chair of both the British Spanish Law Association and the STEP Cross Border Estates Special Interest Group Committee.
Alvaro regularly publishes articles in the PS Magazine of the Law Society of England and Wales, STEP Journal, The Journal (Law Society of Scotland), and Wolters Kluwer (Spain) amongst others.
Léa Maynard from Buckles Solicitors

Léa joined Buckles Solicitors in July 2016 as a Paralegal in our French Law department and was promoted to Senior Paralegal in April 2021. Léa is a French national and fluent in English, assisting the team with all types of matters as well as running her own caseload mainly specialising in French estate administration matters with a cross-border element.
Before moving to England, Léa graduated top of her class in 2011 from one of the best French law universities (Université Paris II Panthéon-Assas) with a Masters in IT Law. Léa then worked for two years as an intern, and subsequently, as a paralegal for a small Parisian law firm, Léa moved to the UK in September 2015 and, in April 2017, completed her LLM in International Commercial Law at the University of Nottingham, and achieved a distinction. Léa plans to qualify as a solicitor under the new Solicitors Qualification Exam in the next couple of years.

The webinar presentation will be preceded by the STEP Birmingham Annual General Meeting.
