Description

Experienced speakers share with you their expert knowledge of succession planning for family businesses and its challenges

As private client practitioners we often do not see the considerations our corporate colleagues take into account at the company level when family business succession issues are involved, especially if there are capacity issues. This event concentrates on those issues for the older generation in the business as they prepare to hand the business down.

In this afternoon session, we have the great privilege to have His Honour Judge Jonathan Klein TEP speak on the work of the Circuit Commercial Court in Leeds. This will be a rare opportunity to hear His Honour speak on his work and recent developments of the law with which he has been involved.

Topics to be addressed include:

  • structuring the company/business for a successful succession
  • issues of mental incapacity and safeguarding the family business
  • family business disputes in the Circuit Commercial Court

Speakers include:

  • His Honour Judge Klein TEP, Leeds Combined Court Centre
  • Amanda Simmonds TEP, Senior Associate, Lupton Fawcett LLP
  • Martin Frost, Director, Lupton Fawcett LLP
  • Michael O’Sullivan TEP, Barrister, 5 Stone Buildings
