This seminar aims to analyse issues affecting Islamic estate planning instruments available in Malaysia including Labuan. It is known that creation and development of estate planning instruments catered for Muslims are largely driven by market forces through estate planners, lawyers and other intermediaries.

What are the justifications, legal issues and challenges surrounding these instruments? Our learned speakers will share their insights amongst others on the use of Hibah Trust and Islamic Trust

Speakers:

  • Professor Tang Hang Wu is the Lee Kong Chian Professor at the Yong Pung How School of Law and Associate Provost (Research Governance) at Singapore Management University
  • Ismanizam Ismail is the Vice President and Shariah Advisor at Maybank Islamic Bank

Topics:

  • Professor Tang Hang Wu will be presenting - The Islamisation of the English Trust: The Hibah Trust in Malaysia
  • Ismanizam Ismail will be presenting - Islamic Trust: Issues and challenges in Malaysia context
