Description

Program Description:

Brexit and the threat of a Corbyn government are not the only winds of change to have an impact on wealthy individuals connected in some way to the UK.  In covering recent developments in the UK tax system as it affects US taxpayers and their wealth holding structures our presenters will focus on the following:

- changes to the taxation of UK resident non-domicillaries and non-UK resident trusts

- changes to the taxation of UK real estate owned by non-UK resident individuals and entities

- changes to the visa and immigration regime

- changes to the tax enforcement, disclosure, reporting and penalty regimes

Presenters:

Mark Summers advises global wealthy families, their businesses and wealth holding structures, and the institutions that service them. He is most noted advising families resident or investing in multiple highly taxed and regulated jurisdictions, such as the US or EU where they are affected by complex multi-jurisdictional tax and legal issues.

Mr. Summers is admitted to practice in England and Wales, and as a foreign lawyer to the EU list of the supervisory commission of lawyers for the canton of Zurich and the Swiss Federation.

Iain Younger is a Tax Director within the Frank Hirth Trusts & Estate team specializing in UK and US issues facing high net worth individuals and families.

Michael G.  Pfeifer (Moderator) focuses his practice on the international tax issues of wealthy individuals. He counsels clients on pre-immigration and expatriation planning and structuring cross-border investments, estate planning, and tax controversy matters, including Competent Authority and voluntary disclosure proceedings.
