Postponed - IHT Planning – A Technical Update - 19 May 2020
Ward Hadaway Solicitors
5 Wellington Place
Speaker: John Bunker, Irwin Mitchell
The OTS review of IHT (part 2) published on 5 July 2019 produced some radical proposal for change, rather more than pure “simplification”, on lifetime exemptions, liability for tax on lifetime gifts, the “trading threshold” for BPR and the possible loss of CGT uplift in cases where there is full relief from IHT on death. This seminar will take into account any changes that the new Chancellor, Sajid Javed, might seek to bring in. Then how do STEP members advise clients to plan for IHT mitigation in the meantime? John Bunker Solicitor of Irwin Mitchell, STEP member and Chair of the CIOT’s Succession Taxes Sub-Committee, will seek to guide and inspire you with some effective lifetime and will planning ideas, including some potential variations to make the most of new opportunities.
