At Pitcher Partners Sydney, we work with clients across multi jurisdictions with specialist knowledge in the US, UK and Australian tax spaces. With increasingly mobile clients and the associated multi-jurisdictional tax considerations that entails we will take you on a journey thought the key UK and US tax traps that we have experienced with our own clients. We will conclude the presentation with some Australian tax opportunities when succession plans are less than ideal.

  • Alison Wood, Partner

Alison works with her clients to protect and enhance their personal wealth. She assists high-net-worth individuals, CEOs, private equity executives, fund managers and private business owners, many of whom have international portfolios or assets.

Her pragmatic advice helps individuals secure tax effectiveness while attaining their long-term personal aspirations; critically considering the appropriateness of various structures. Alison also assists clients to establish and maintain vehicles such as Trusts, personal investment companies and self-managed superannuation funds, whilst being mindful of any international tax considerations such as inheritance or gift taxes.

Alison specialises in managing the global tax affairs of international mobile executives and business owners, Australians who have made another jurisdiction their home, or foreign nationals who have made Australia home. She has a strong understanding of the personal tax regimes in overseas jurisdictions including the UK, USA, Hong Kong, France and Singapore. Using a personal approach to client service, Alison provides proactive and on-going advice to meet the long-term needs of her clients, often advising on global retirement strategies and residency issues.

With comprehensive knowledge and experience gained from working with individuals with a range of financial goals and objectives, Alison establishes effective structures that flex over time as personal goals and objectives evolve.

Alison became a partner of the Sydney firm in 2014.

  • Daniel Sparks, Partner

Daniel provides personal and international tax advice to high net wealth families and individuals including mobile executives and international families. His understanding of the available tax structures enhances personal wealth, protects assets and facilitates family succession including advice about different types of trusts, super funds, and corporate vehicles.

Recognising that foreign tax can be viewed as complex and complicated, particularly for clients with US backgrounds, Daniel simplifies taxation matters. His comprehensive experience in cross-border strategies and inbound /outbound residency issues brings specialist insight into tax planning.

He works proactively with clients to understand and optimise their personal tax position.

Having gained substantial exposure to the US tax regime through working for mobile executives and international families, Daniel now regularly present to local tax practitioners on the complex topic of US and Australian cross border taxation.

Daniel has been with the Sydney firm since 2005 and joined the partnership in 2017.

  • Ankit Sharma, Client Director

As a trusted advisor of the firm, Ankit has strong experience working with a diverse range of clients including complex privately owned corporates and small to medium size family businesses, assisting with c-suite, family office and cross-border management.

Ankit also specialises in aged care work streams, high net worth family groups and investors across different industries, with whom he has helped to navigate their periodic and strategic taxation and accounting requirements.

He is a prominent and trustworthy leader with a vested interest in delivering on his commitments to both his clients and his team.

Having started as a cadet at the firm in 2008, Ankit is now a Client Director for the Private Business and Family Advisory group at Pitcher Partners Sydney.
