Description

Arranged by the Northern arm of the Business Families Special Interest Group (SIG), this event will cover family constitutions and their process, and the benefits they can bring. (This talk is the one postponed from 29 September 2014)

Topic

As advisors to family businesses, we often have the privilege of organising the inter-generational succession plan. We often think that the development of a shared future in the form of a constitution will miraculously create a sufficiently cohesive and trusting business family who are able to rise above the ambiguity, lower the anxiety and manage the expectations that may surround their complex existence.

In this afternoon seminar speakers Ian Marsh, familydr, and Juliette Johnson, Juliette Johnson Consultancy, examine the mechanics and detail of a family constitution and consider the process and benefits a constitution can bring to a family. There will then be time for a discussion as to whether it is the document itself or the process that is more valuable.
