Erik Malle, 25/11/2019

Erik Malle TEP is a Chartered Accountant and Tax Advisor at CONSULTATIO Group in Vienna.

What does your firm do?

We advise clients in tax structuring and accounting issues re wealth and assets.

What has STEP done for you, individually, or as a business?

We value STEP for networking and knowledge-sharing.

You will be speaking at the STEP Europe Conference in February. What will you be speaking on and what are the main issues?

I’ll be speaking on Ultimate Beneficial Ownership (UBO) registers under Anti-Money Laundering Directives; the main issue is transparency in the new world.

What do you most like about your job?

I would say meeting people, helping to solve problems, and earning their trust.

What would you say to a young person thinking of a career in this industry?

I’d tell them it’s a great decision and advise them to stick to their principles.

Which sectors are likely to see the strongest future growth, do you think?

In my opinion, structuring advice, reporting, and being able to offer tools to minimise risks.

What about jurisdictions?

I envisage the greatest growth in the US and Asia.

What trends do you see in the global private wealth sector at the moment?

I see a trend for minimising tax risks, and re-thinking and changing long-term structures.

What do you feel are the main challenges facing practitioners at the moment?

I’ve noticed there’s an increased use of ‘template’ solutions replacing real people for advice. There’s also a great deal of transparency obligations, especially in the EU.

Which social media channels do you use?

I use LinkedIn.
