What does your organisation do?

At Radcliffe Chambers, we are barristers, and we provide advice, drafting and representation in England and abroad in contentious and non-contentious trust and estate matters.

What has STEP done for you, individually, or as a business?

I’d say STEP provides scintillating seminars, absorbing articles and captivating conferences.

What is the most important thing STEP does, in your opinion?

In my view, STEP conferences, which unify and inform the global profession.

You will be speaking at the STEP Cayman Conference 2020 in January. What will you be speaking on and what are the main issues?

I’ll be contributing to a panel looking at how the offshore jurisdictions compete with each other to attract trust business.

What do you most like about your job?

I would say the endless variety of professional and lay clients, and the opportunity to explore the world’s legal systems.

.. and what do you feel is most worthwhile?

Pro bono work is very satisfying when you get a good result.

What would you say to a young person thinking of a career in this industry?

Get out and meet people.

Which sectors are likely to see the strongest future growth, do you think?

AI-led wealth structuring is in its infancy now, but offers endless potential for the future.

What about jurisdictions?

The best jurisdictions have robust and mature regulatory and legal systems, coupled with world-class soft infrastructure.

What trends do you see in the global private wealth sector at the moment?

Most of my work is litigation, where I see a strong trend of beneficiaries looking to get the best – as they see it – from trustees.

What do you feel are the main challenges facing your organisation at the moment, and how will you deal with them?

Much of the best work increasingly happens offshore, but the answer is to be ready to work as part of an international team.
