Mark Silberfarb , 15/3/2016

Mark Silberfarb TEP is the Managing Director of Global Financial Institute, USA

What does your firm do?

Global Financial Institute, based in Irvine, California, designs and implements financial and tax strategies as well as insurance and equity investment management.

What is the most important thing STEP does, in your opinion?

It provides outstanding continuing education opportunities.

You were recently given a Founder’s Award. What does this mean to you?

As STEP is the pre-eminent educational organisation for trust and estate practitioners, receiving the Founder’s Award means a great deal to me.

How and why did you get involved with STEP?

I joined STEP Los Angeles quite a few years ago, principally for the continuing education it provides and also for the networking opportunities. I then founded STEP Orange County and have been involved in the development of a Nevada chapter.

What benefits has it brought you?

The professional education provided by STEP has been outstanding.

What do you most like about your job?

The positive results I’m able to provide clients and their families.

.. and what do you feel is most worthwhile?

The lasting friendships I make with my clientele.

What would you say to a young person thinking of a career in this industry?

This industry offers an exciting opportunity to develop professionally in a field which consistently helps people and is professionally and financially rewarding.

Where do you see future growth, both in terms of sectors and jurisdictions?

With the finance and the world economy becoming increasingly global, this underscores the importance of STEP. It also means we should promote constant communication and professional alliances among all STEP’s branches and chapters worldwide.

Which social media channels do you use and why?

I employ Linked In to connect with my fellow practitioners.
