Biography:

John joined Burges Salmon over 20 years ago and now heads the firm's Private Client and Wealth Structuring department.

A practising solicitor he is also qualified as a Chartered Tax Advisor winning the Chartered Institute of Taxation's (CIOT) Institute Medal for best national performance and highest total marks in the November 1998 CTA exams.

Nationally, John chaired the CIOT's Capital Gains Tax and Investment Income Committee between 2006 and 2014.  Having stood down from that role, he is now a member of the CIOT's governing Council and frequently leads the CIOT's response on HMRC consultations regarding private client tax issues.  He is a regular speaker at STEP and other conferences and in 2016 is a judge on the STEP Private Client Awards.
