I was born in 1952 and joined the Executor & Trustee Branch of Lloyds Bank Group in Southampton in 1971.

Through a series of “corporate metamorphoses” the Executor & Trustee Department of the Bank became their Private Banking operation. In 1988, I came to Leeds as manager of the Leeds Branch of Lloyds Private Banking, which offered asset management and holistic independent financial planning advice to the Bank’s wealthier customers in Yorkshire. At the time, I was the youngest branch manager in the Private Bank.

In 1995, I accepted redundancy from the Bank in lieu of an unwelcome move back south and became an Independent Financial Planner.

At the time of leaving the bank I was a member of STEP and a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investments (CISI). I am a former Chairman of the Yorkshire Branch of STEP and a Chartered Fellow of the CISI. In 2008, I completed the QCF Level 6 qualification to become a Certified Financial Planner and also completed the assessment to become an accredited member of the Society of Later Life Advisers.

Since leaving the bank, I have gained experience with a Sheffield IFA, two National IFAs and am now Head of Later Life Services at Wren Sterling (formerly Towergate Financial).

I specialise in Elderly Client matters, particularly Care Home Fees planning, IHT mitigation and investment. I also have considerable experience and expertise in investment for Trustees, including those of Charities.
