Career Progression

Tools and resources to support your development and help you move forward in your career.

Career planning

STEP has adopted Career Innovation as a tool for members to plan their careers and manage their continuing professional development (CPD) activities. Several large international businesses use Career Innovation as a way of exploring what someone needs to reach the next stage of their career, similar to how a career coach or mentor would. STEP has adapted the CiZone career planning tool to help members identify, plan and carry out CPD activities in a more focused way to enhance their careers.

Training and development

Under our Qualifications and Membership Framework (QMF), you can gain credits from completing STEP Certificates and Diplomas that, when combined with your prior qualifications and work experience, will assist you in becoming a Full Member of STEP.

If you are already a Full Member, STEP’s Advanced Certificates and Diplomas offer excellent CPD opportunities, enabling you to hone your skills in your main area of practice, or develop new skills to enable you to specialise in a different area.

All available courses are outlined in the Qualifications section of the STEP website.

Workplace support

Alchemy Performance Assistant is available for STEP members to use free of charge. It is a practical support resource, designed to help users deal with unexpected workplace problems that can’t wait for a formal training course. Experts on anything from conducting appraisals, to coming up with a business strategy have been commissioned to write summaries that help you find possible solutions quickly.
