Nancy Golding QC TEP Re-Elected as worldwide STEP Chair for 2022
Nancy Golding QC TEP, a Director, Trust & Estate Law at Moodys Private Client Law in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, has been re-elected as worldwide Chair of STEP, effective 1 January 2022.
STEP is the global professional association for practitioners who specialise in family inheritance and succession planning. With more than 21,000 members worldwide, STEP’s mission is to inspire confidence in families planning their assets across generations. STEP sets and upholds high professional standards, informs public policy, promotes education, and connects practitioners globally to share knowledge and best practice.
With nearly four decades of experience, Nancy has established herself as a leader in her field, representing individual and corporate clients on a wide variety of issues pertaining to estate and trusts. Nancy is a strong advocate for her clients and goes above and beyond to provide practical solutions for both the present and the future.
On being re-elected as Chair, Nancy said: ‘I am honoured to have this opportunity to contribute to the next phase of STEP’s evolution and growth in 2022. The Board and I are focused on enhancing STEP’s global position in setting professional standards, providing innovative education, and in thought leadership. I am deeply invested in maximising the STEP offering to each and every member. Members are the lifeblood of STEP and its reason for being. I look forward to increasing our focus on welcoming new and diverse members to our distinguished organisation in 2022.
Nancy has been a member of STEP for over 21 years. She has served in several roles: as Calgary Branch Chair from 2006-08; as a member of STEP Canada’s Board of Directors from 2006-10; as one of the Canadian representatives on STEP’s worldwide Council since 2013; as a member of the worldwide Board of Directors since 2015; and as worldwide Deputy Chair since 2019.
STEP’s Chief Executive, Mark Walley said: ‘I am delighted that Nancy has been re-elected as our Chair. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role and I know will continue in showing leadership through a time of change and challenge.’
Nancy will lead STEP’s Board of Directors, responsible for the high-level strategic direction of the Society. Board members have legal authority and responsibility for the organisation and are elected by members of STEP’s worldwide Council.
