STEP celebrates student excellence

Monday, 18 July 2022

STEP is delighted to announce the winners of this year’s Excellence Awards, which celebrate exceptional student achievement, recognising the highest achievers across all STEP qualifications globally.

The 52 winners hail from all over the world, representing 14 countries: Canada, China, Cyprus, Germany, Guernsey, Hong Kong, Isle of Man, Italy, Mauritius, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, Switzerland and the UK.

STEP’s qualifications are widely recognised as the benchmark for the private client and wealth planning industry globally and are taken by accountants, lawyers, trustees, bankers and others to demonstrate their specialist knowledge and expertise. They can be taken as part of the exam route to full membership of STEP, denoted by the prestigious ‘TEP’ designation, which is recognised and respected by employers, regulators and clients across the world.

The Awards recognise the top-scoring student at distinction level per STEP exam or assignment, plus the highest-scoring graduates of the STEP Diploma.

‘Huge congratulations to all of the winners,’ Mark Walley, STEP’s Chief Executive, said. ‘Continuous learning is one of STEP’s core values and is central to our mission to inspire confidence in families planning their assets across generations. These individuals have all shown outstanding talent and dedication and are a credit to STEP, their employers and the industry more broadly. The future is certainly bright.’

Matthew Smith TEP, General Counsel at Southpac Group in New Zealand, was the highest-scoring graduate of the STEP Diploma in International Trust Management (DL+). He said, ‘Completing the STEP Diploma and attaining TEP status has been invaluable for my professional development. It’s a path I would recommend to anyone who wants to specialise in the international trust and corporate management sector.’
