STEP celebrates student excellence

Monday, 27 June, 2016

STEP has announced the first 38 student award winners in a new awards scheme recognising student achievement on a worldwide level.

The new Worldwide Excellence Awards are given to the top-scoring students for each STEP exam, plus the highest scoring graduates across each of STEP’s Diplomas, aggregated across the four papers taken. These awards will be presented twice a year.

The current award winners represent the top achievers across all of STEP’s exams for the period 1 July - 31 December 2015. The top-scoring students for the period 1 January - 30 June 2016 will be announced in November 2016.

As the worldwide professional association for those advising families across generations, STEP offers training and development to an extensive global network of trust and estate practitioners.

‘Education is at the heart of what STEP does and we pride ourselves on setting high standards globally through our exams and qualifications,’ said Nigel Race, STEP’s Director of Professional Development. ‘Our winners should be very proud of achieving the top mark in their studies and we are delighted to recognise their accomplishment through these Awards,’ he added.

Award winners come from all over the world, including Singapore, the British Virgin Islands, and Cyprus. Many have provided testimonials:

‘The course was fantastic; not only was I exposed to the corporate practice and procedure in the jurisdiction which I am most affiliated with, the British Virgin Islands (BVI) but I gained such insights and perspectives on other jurisdictions; truly a remarkable and rewarding experience!’ Kwende Thomas, MWM Global Holdings Ltd, British Virgin Islands

‘When I moved to the Cayman Islands, I quickly appreciated that it was important for any notable trust attorney to possess the TEP designation… STEP provides an invaluable avenue for continuous learning through international and local seminars as well as the STEP Journal. Perhaps even more significantly, it has represented a unique opportunity to network and to build lasting relationships with fellow trust attorneys and practitioners.’ Jo-Anne Stephens, Higgs & Johnson, Cayman Islands

‘If you are able to manage your time efficiently and want to progress in your career by attaining a STEP qualification then this course is for you. Honestly, everything was useful from the basics to the advanced content. If you are a Private Client Solicitor then I would say this course should be compulsory as it cements your legal knowledge and proves advantageous with your day-to-day role.’ Shivali Kapoor, Wilson Browne, Leicester, UK
