Business Families Global SIG Steering Committee Elections 2021-22

Four vacancies have arisen on the Business Families Global Special Interest Group (SIG) Steering Committee and they are now accepting applications to fill these vacancies and bring the committee to its full complement of twelve members.

The STEP Worldwide Board and SIG Committee's wish is for the composition of the Steering Committee to be geographically diverse and to reflect the make-up of the SIG's global membership, following guidance outlined in the Global SIG Terms of Reference. Candidates are encouraged to highlight relevant experience in their personal statement and professional experience; there is no rigid model as to what a committee member should be like and we welcome members from a range of backgrounds and identities to bring different perspectives. Fundamental is, demonstrable experience and expertise, or an expressed interest, in the special interest group’s field of focus.

If you wish to stand for one of the steering committee positions, then please complete the application form below and submit to [email protected] with the subject line: ‘Business Families SIG Steering Committee Application-[INSERT CANDIDATE NAME]' by 11:59pm London, UK (GMT) on Sunday 2 January 2022.

In submitting an application, please ensure that you read the Global SIG Terms of Reference, which set forth the rules and guidance on all matters relating to the running, governance and operation of special interest groups, to include detail on the responsibilities and obligations you would undertake as a Global SIG Steering Committee member and who is eligible to apply. If successfully elected, Members of the Committee are expected to actively participate in the work of the Committee on behalf of the global SIG and regularly attend committee meetings, joining either in person or by means of tele-/web-conferencing equipment (occurring four-six times in a calendar year).

These elections to the steering committee will take place to the following schedule:

7 December 2021 Upcoming election dates and request for candidate submissions announced.
2 January 2022 Deadline for candidate applications (applications received after 11:59pm GMT on Sunday 2 January 2022 will not be accepted).
18 – 24 January 2022 Members of the SIG provided with details of candidates running.
Online voting available to SIG members for a period of 7 days.
By 25 January 2022 Successful and unsuccessful applicants will be individually informed. Positions accepted will have terms of service denoted as commencing 1 January 2022, in line with SIG governance processes.
By 23 February 2022 The election results will be publicly announced (incorporating officer appointments also).
9 March 2022 New committee members invited to attend first committee meeting for purposes of a hand-over from current steering committee members.
