New CPD resources for members

Val Cox introduces three new resources, available for free on the STEP CPD Centre.

I’m pleased to announce that STEP’s CPD Centre now has three resources, all free to members, that will provide you with CPD materials and planning tools. These resources have been chosen to support members as STEP implements a new CPD policy. Full details of the CPD policy and guidelines are available through the CPD Centre, which can be found at CPD Resources.

You may already be familiar with Alchemy Performance Assistant (formerly Alchemy for Managers), which was launched last year. Alchemy is a library of answers, advice, strategies, tools and methods for dealing with workplace issues, all written by subject-matter experts. As a CPD resource, it is particularly valuable because members can research a topic and apply what they’ve learnt almost immediately. Alchemy covers non-technical subjects, such as building rapport with clients or staff and project planning.

CiZone helps you to identify your strengths, weaknesses and career goals, all of which it is necessary to know if you are to get real value for money from CPD activities

Members also have free access via the CPD Centre to EBSCO’s Business Source Corporate Plus database. This is an archive of business journals, books, case studies and reports on various companies, countries and industries. The available publications cover a broad range of business areas, such as economics, finance, management and marketing.

Members can download PDFs or read books and articles online. The Harvard Business Review, Forbes and the Journal of Wealth Management are available in full text, while others are available in summary form. If you would like to use EBSCO, I would recommend that you read the help guide (accessed by clicking on the ‘?’ to the right of the search box), because the database contains hundreds of thousands of articles and narrowing your search down will save a lot of time.

Our third resource is the CiZone career-planning tool. CiZone is designed to help you identify your strengths, weaknesses and career goals, all of which it is necessary to know if you are to get real value for money from CPD activities.

If you would like to try these resources, you will need your STEP website username and password. You can access all of the resources, and further instructions on how to use them, via CPD Resources.
